love this! ronika (who i once heard being called "the madonna of the midlands" <3 ) is an up and coming face in the world of pop, releasing a couple of EPs last year and now this new single in 2012. the artwork was so striking to me (her previous works had been solid, but a little flat). go check her out!

annnnnd another madonna update! the single's title has been changed from 'girls gone wild' to 'girl gone wild', due to a legal dispute with entrepreneur joe francis, who claims the song's name and content links in too closely with his brand of explicit videos (which are also titled "girls gone wild"). so a change was made and the cover's artwork was amended also. instead of just taking out an "s" though...they changed the whole typeface...and simonsez no likey. it went from being the classy side of sexy to the trashy side (highlighting the power of typography!), all in the swift swoop of cheap looking ghostly/light writing typeface. compare the new cover and the original below and tell me what you think: "yuck!" or "yay!"?
updated official cover:
original (and in my opinion..) better cover:
also check out the lyric video, which gives an up close and personal view of the artwork, while listening to the song :D

UPDATE : out the blue, another update on the cover! due to a legal issue, madonna had to alter the songs title, check out the new cover here!
i knew the other artwork that surfaced was a fan made! below is the LQ version of madge's latest single...loving the colours and that hair is giving me 'confessions' era realness haha!

your favourite 2005, urban diva is back, this time with a new single titled 'forever'. she is going the independent route (after being dropped from a major label deal) and the artwork gives off a slight whiff of "on the cheap"...

1. (up two) flo rida - wild ones (ft. sia)
2. (up three) gym class heroes - ass back home (ft. neon hitch)
3. (down one) dappy - rockstar (ft. brian may)
5. (re-entry) jessie j - who you are (japan edition)
lots of artworks moving up the chart this week, glad to see sia and neon hitch (two of my favourite solo females about right now!) doing so well. that was the "week's most popular", see you next week :)
UPDATE : it is a fan-made, check out the official artwork here!
i know the album's artwork was shot by mert & marcus (acclaimed fashion photographers), but this image looks a little too closely styled to their "interview" magazine shoot, to make me think this may be a fan-made...will update when i know! what do you think?
another day, another nicki minaj "single"...
even in LQ form this isn't awful to look at, hoping when a better quality version appears that it really shines :) and in HQ i'm still digging it :)...buuuuut, hoping for a lil something more (still) for the album's cover...the single artworks just haven't been hitting all the right spots.
ever so slightly dull :/ which is a shame, as the song is really solid...also how all the type is bunched together (and still trying to incorporate tinch's logo) doesn't sit right with me...
also, there has been this buzz cover floating around for the single...personally i prefer it to the cheesefest above! the logos appear to come together better as well...

love this! that type is hitting all the right spots (excellent use of a "hairline" weight...typography knowledge ftw!) and the photo of mr raymond is interesting and original. yumyumyum!
and with a new era comes a new logo :P dee-lightful!

jojo is starting to build some momentum in her 'jumping trains' campaign. first off, the remix single artwork for 'disaster'...
...and ALSO the second single from the album 'jumping trains' has been announced as 'sexy to me'. this song is grower, i didn't jump (no pun intended) on it at first, but loving it now! as you can see from these two covers jo' is going for a certain "classy" edge, but it falls ever so slightly flat for me :/ though snaps for keeping a visual theme throughout all this era's artwork!

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : jennifer hudson - i will always love you (performed live at the 54th annual grammy awards)
there is also another version floating around the interweb, featuring an image actually from the performance...
2. (up one) dappy - rockstar (ft. brian may)
3. (up one) flo rida - wild ones (ft. sia)
5. (new entry) gym class heroes - ass back home (ft. neon hitch)
so dappy and flo'flo are on the up as 1d's 'up all night' slipped down 2 places, so glad to see some neon hitch (even in 'featured' form...) on the most popular posts! see y'all next week :):)

nix is churning out the songs from 'roman reloaded'! the array of artwork reflects the mis-match sound of each song...there is no consistency whatsoever :/ i think 'starships' is meant to act as the first official single (not 'roman in moscow', 'silly hoe' or 'roman holiday'...confused?) from the new set and if it's cover is a taster for the album's artwork, then i feel let down! fingers crossed she has another 'pink friday' style left-of-centre cover up her sleeve...

hmm. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. not sure. not sure about those alignments :/ i get the whole "the title of the song is written on her jumper" visual, from the original version of the cover. that's fun, reflecting the songs whimsical nature and sound. but why is the 'party rock remix' chucked across her crotch(es). it looks like someone who does not know how to design (like a lot of well meaning fans out there...) or someone who realllly couldn't give a shit has directed this :/ not cool.
ewww and i found this version too! someone's tried to give it a hand...WITH ARIAL! NOT COOL! the actual type is deelicious (especially on the 'MDNA' cover), the placing is a disaster.

3. (new entry) dappy - rockstar (ft. brian may)
our only new entry this week, lots of people checking out this artwork (which stays very much in the same visual styling as the 'no regrets' cover). i'm still wondering how he got brian to play on this song!
5. (down two) jessie j - who you are (japan edition)
THAT WAS THE WEEK'S MOST POPULAR POSTS!!!! :)
the other day i posted about the alternative 'the born this way ball' tour poster, which was a little more reserved then the photoshopped mess that also made the rounds. below is a high quality version of the new logo. enjoy!
