LIMITED EDITION : kylie minogue - kiss me once (limited edition vinyl box set)

So, I felt it was high time for another round of "My Editions" - where I post about a limited edition piece from my personal collection. This time I'll be diving 'Into The Blue' with Kylie Minogue's 'Kiss Me Once (Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set)'. It's a gorgeously kissable, silk cloth-bound box set filled to the brim with sass. So let's get going!

First stop, what's included:

- 12" double vinyl of the standard version of the album 

- Deluxe edition of the album on CD (With exclusive artwork featuring handwritten lipstick text by Kylie herself)

- Card featuring digital download code for the album

- 5 x 12" art prints on heavy paper stock, featuring an exclusive image only in this box set and a hand numbered life size kiss from Kylie

- 12" vinyl sticker sheet with 'Kiss Me Once' lips graphic

- 12" "faux window" featuring raindrops and the album title, so you can recreate the album artwork!

All is contained in a silk cloth-bound 12" vinyl box. 100 copies were signed by Kylie at random.

A close up on that loverly, shimmering silk cloth-bound box. It simply features the 'Kiss Me Once' lips graphic stitched in the middle of the lid and it's hard to get the full effect without holding it in your hands. I spent a solid twenty minutes just stroking it... (in honour of 'Les Sex' and 'Sexercise' of course!). A simple touch, but it really adds to a sense of elegance about the piece.

It's a very slimline box, I was actually quite surprised when it arrived. At first glance it looks like it could only fit in a couple of vinyl - but keep reading to see what else is included.

Lid off and you're greeted by more lips and lipstick...I'm sensing a theme... It really does remind me of Christina Aguilera's 'Bionic', but it's so gorgeous I'm willing to overlook it

NEW ALBUM, LIMITED EDITION & SINGLE ARTWORK : kylie - kiss me once (album & limited edition vinyl boxset) & into the blue

Now, as loyal followers of this blog may know - simonsez is an avid fan of some Kylie artwork. Like really REALLY. So when a new Kylie era begins, you know I have some high standards for her to meet ;) So dive in below to Ms. Minogue's eleventh release...

It is titled 'Kiss Me Once' and the artwork is giving me hints of Christina's 'Bionic', with all it's red-lipstick-sex-in-the-shower realness. I'm liking it a lot!

AND you know I'm always sold on a special, limited edition release of an album :D:D and this one will not disappoint! The limited edition run will include:

- 12" vinyl and CD version of the album

- 5 x 12" art prints - featuring an exclusive image from the album photoshoot and a lifesize Kylie lip print (EEEE!)

- 12" sticker sheet of lip prints

- (What I'm most excited for!) A 'faux window' featuring waterdrops and the album title, so you can recreate the album cover...get that rep lipstick ready!

- Also, 100 will randomly be selected and signed by the 5ft diva herself!

- Due to major demand the run will now be 3,500 and each one will have a hand numbered print included (probably the image that is exclusive to the boxset)

Not done yet on this Kylie extravanganza - there's the single artwork to go at yet! Below is 'Into The Blue', the first offering from the new era and it is euphoric bliss from start to finish. It has elements of a mermaid (almost like when Ariel first gets her legs and fashions a garment out of an old ships sail... but better!).

Also we get a glimpse of a new logo from this album, still keeping elements of the pillar effect that the 'Aphrodite' album used - love it! Check out a higher quality version below:

Kylie sent out an image on her Instagram account of her holding the single's promo CD and the artwork appears to be altered, focusing more on the handwritten type...I hope they haven't let go of the new 'Kylie' logo :(

Giving us some 'Fever' artwork-esque realness in the accompanying artwork, this surprise appeared onto the internet today and it's a helluva good song :) I believe this is the buzz artwork for the song, so will update with any changes...

Kylie has just released her orchestral album 'The Abbey Road Sessions' today and images have arisen of the two limited edition versions. Check out the 'Limited Edition Casebound Book':

NEW LIVE ALBUM ARTWORK : kylie minogue - the abbey road sessions

The year of "k25" just means Ms. Minogue keeps giving and giving! Next up is the set she recorded at the Abbey Road studios - a full orchestral reworking of her biggest hits. The artwork is giving me some Mariah Carey realness, I like it :P

NEW LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : kylie minogue - K25 time capsule

Oh yes, oh yum! Hold onto your knickers gays, girls and guys - Kylie is bringing out a new limited edition collector's item :D So, as you know, 2012 is the 25th anniversary of Kylie's music career and she has dubbed it 'K25'. Each month she has revealed a new surprise and part of June's is a singles collection called 'K25 Time Capsule'!

At the moment the early pictures (above and below this post) make it look like a similar design to Britney's 'The Singles Collection' release - with the boxset including a number of discs, each holding a couple of songs. Obviously Kylie's is set to include 25...duhh! :) I can't tell much more from the pictures...other then it has an excellent use of the 'K25' logo, a cute black'n'pink colour scheme and an even cuter use of a vintage Kylie pic on one side opposite to an up-to-date-fierce-as-you-like Kylie snap! I'll keep you updated on any new info and make sure you pre-order yours here!

NEW PROMO PIC : 'kylie fashion' book

The next surprise from the K25 celebrations is a new book from Ms. Minogue, it will chart her 25 years in pop through her iconic looks and fashions (including behind the scenes images, rare archival photography, video outtakes, fashion sketches, designs and ephemera). Kylie had this to say about the release:

‘This book charts my relationship with some of the most talented people in fashion throughout my career. It makes me very proud to see gathered together all the great designers and houses I’ve worked with over the years. Looking through my personal archives has been a real trip down memory lane and it is the fashion that brings back moments and memories of the last twenty-five years. I can’t wait to share this book with the world.’

loving the use of all the original fonts used on the individual singles! (only qualm is that the type for 'in my arms' isn't right...it should look the same as how 'wow' is written). kylie has always been one for throwing together all the eras, like the collages from the 'ultimate kylie' artwork - simonsez approves!

"whoo, you wanna, wanna?" yes i do kyles, missed you and loving the year of k25! :P the artwork is a tad meh...but will make so much more sense when the video is released (it's the same heart leather jacket she wore for the video shoot)...

the next surprise in the k25 celebrations is a new compilation of ms. minogue's best hits, in the form of 'the best of kylie minogue'. the artwork is flawless, loving the badges on a denim jacket look - an homage to her 80s beginnings i'm sure! the release will come out this june, as a standard one disc edition:

as you can see the only difference between the two covers is the use of sticker...so i've included the image without...you know, to get the full effect of that dee-lightful photo :)

another announcement from kylie in her 'k25' year! this time it's what all the super fans have been waiting for: the 'anti tour'! supposedly having a setlist made up completely of "fan favourites" (b-sides, demos and rarities that no one thought they'd hear live!) it is definitely a tour to get excited about and here is the official logo (anyone else getting major deconstruction/'impossible princess' vibes??):

NEW EP ARTWORK : kylie - best hits (superdrug fragrance exclusive)

one of the first promo pieces from the "K25" era is a new EP being given away free with kylie's fragrances at superdrug (in the UK). the EP contains 4 of kyles' best known hits and features an interesting enough cover artwork :) (though i have a feeling kylie designer regulars "adjective noun" didn't have a hand in this, i'm looking forward to what they create for the official releases from her 25th anniversary celebration).

LIMITED EDITION : kylie minogue - aphrodite (the goddess edition)

so after months of waiting and anticipating, the goddess has finally emerged from the depths. so let's cast our minds back to early may... "warner music australia" announced up coming special releases to celebrate kylie's latest album 'aphrodite' and the smash hit tour 'aphrodite : les folies tour'. one of the releases was announced as being a hand made, specially packaged pop-up book, which would showcase behind the scenes photographs and interviews with the key players in kylie's team, who helped put the 'les folies' tour together... and it would be named 'the goddess edition'.

"alleluia!"

due to multiple production problems, put down to the fact that a piece of this kind and quality has not been created on this scale before, it had pushed the eventual release date back several times. regular followers of simonsez-CD will know that i have been sat patiently, twiddling my graphic-design addicted thumbs, waiting until the day that my hands lay upon my very own copy. that day arrived...and now i will open it up and show you all the wonder that is 'the goddess edition'. enjoy :)

as a way of sweetening up the more impatient kylie fans (who felt slightly cheated that it took so long for the piece to be released), the designers decided to include a few extra items. the first: a book carry bag, to keep the deluxe edition safe and sound. it has a john zhu (the designer who provided the amazing illustrations inside the book) illustration printed onto it, so it adds a really lovely element to the edition.

the second: specially printed "K" logo wrapping paper surrounding the book...

and the third (one last layer...): a slipcase to house the book in even more luxury!

following on from the wrapping paper, the "K" logo has been embossed onto the front...

...and the side. delicious!

and here it is! covered in a fine hessian cloth, you can really feel the hand-made quality to the piece.
