so the reason i stumbled upon the gorgeous limited edition version of 'electronic earth', was because i was looking for the cover of his latest single 'express yourself'. i had always thought his artworks had kept such a striking visual theme throughout the era and the boxset explains why: each one was created by the graphic artist tom hingston and labrinth himself, individually for each song off the album. 'express yourself' doesn't disappoint:

OK, HOOOOOOOOLD UP! wtactualf? how did this slip by me?? labrinth released his debut album ('electronic earth') almost a month ago and i hadn't purchased it yet as i had a feeling a limited edition was going to be put out...i had then seen that HMV were selling a 2-disc exclusive. i had decided that was the version i would be buying...then forgot to purchase a copy... but, thank goodness i didn't as i just stumbled upon a limited edition boxset that has been designed for the album and it's really juicy! the press release states that it "comes in a matte, laminated, black box with silver foil text (that'll be the delicious logo of his!)". it then goes on to explain that each song from the album has been put on an INDIVIDUAL CD, each with their OWN ARTWORK (*begins to shake and cry*) and all of this was done in collaboration between labrinth himself and the graphic artist tom hingston!! i mean, come on, tell me something better you can stumble upon on a monday evening....luckily, there was a copy (out of the limited 1000 made) left for me to buy, so expect a full cover-to-cover post when it arrives :)

so in my travels across the interweb, trying desperately to find any info about this new limited edition in my life, i found the individual artwork for album track 'climb on board'. eeee! so excited to receive my copy now!!

this week saw a lot of interest in jls' charity single 'proud', with the sport relief event happening on friday 23rd. labrinth's new release also drew a lot of attention and rightfully so as that artwork is some 'blade runner'-esque delightfulness! that was "the week's most popular"!

i knew this wasn't the official artwork...so close to the release date i'm surprised that the real cover has only just been revealed. but it was worth the wait :) very in the vein of the 'earthquake' cover (metropolis-esque) and still incorporating that awesome logo...simonsez approves! just waiting for the new single 'last time's artwork...hoping for another good 'un.
p.s. anyone else see the 'let the sun shine' and elements of the 'earthquake' artwork lurking in his shades...

with one direction just about to embark on a US tour and a BRIT award nomination, there has been a lot more talk about their music (rather then relationships with older women...) and so that 1d reign is back in full force on the "most popular" chart!

a lot of 1Ders are still checking for their favourite boys for another week (even making two entries on this week's 'most popular'!) and the album's done vurrry well in the real album charts also (placing number 2!). well done one direction :D 

2. (up one) labrinth - earthquake (ft. tinie tempah)

and so labrinth climbs up the 'most popular' again, well done lab and tinie! (still loving both the song and artwork...)

3. (down one) david guetta - without you (ft. usher) (the remixes)

although it's slipped down one place, lots of people still interested in seeing this remix artwork...and for another week i'm hoping that 'turn me on' is the next single...

4. (-) cher lloyd - with ur love (ft. mike posner)

the second non mover this week goes to cher lloyd! though this song and the album has been out a few weeks now, her "brats" are still looking her up! supposedly she's going to be doing a beyoncé with the next few song releases, filming multiple videos for different album tracks! (hoping she also does beyoncé by releasing new artwork for each as well...)

and now for the SECOND one direction entry this week, this time for the album's exclusive slipcases, featuring each individual member. well done to the lads, glad they're getting so much success...hoping with future releases they step up the visual side of things, but there's plenty o' time for that!

a resurgence of interest into guetty's latest single with usher (especially the release of the single's remixes), really liked the artwork for this era! now hoping he releases 'turn me on' avec ms. minaj!

3. (down two) labrinth - earthquake (ft. tinie tempah)

slight slip in views of lab's latest smash...though still enough to get him into the most popular this week! looking forward to the next single and then album release :)

4. (new entry) cher lloyd - with ur love (ft. mike posner)

with the release of cher's album 'sticks + stones' this month, lots of people been looking out for her second single from her debut :) lots of people entering into her 'design a CD cover' competition as well!

5. (new entry) professor green - read all about it (ft. emeli sande)

and the third new entry this week, from pro green and ms. emeli sandé! loving this single (his most successful to date). really enjoyed the artwork for this era, a lot more sophisticated and put together than his first album. WELL DONE PROF'!
