LIMITED EDITION : cheryl - only human (boxset)

 As a progression from her last album (2012's 'A Million Lights'), Cheryl seemed to up the quality-factor of music and visual with this album, in conjunction with her return to the X-Factor. This also saw a high-quality boxset version released for the new album 'Only Human'. Let's jump into it below and see what Mrs Fernandez-Versini has to offer!

 

First off, I think this is her best album cover to date. They've all been pretty standard head-on beauty shots but this one seems to up the gloss factor with that animal strip running through her face and the type is simpler and more striking. YES!

 

 

For the boxset, the type gets an added edge of a lovely burgundy coloured foiling, I love it.

 

The foiling is used on the back cover of the box also, for the tracklisting:

 

The boxset has a lovely matte finish for the cover and the hinged lid fits beautifully over the base.

YAY! Finally a HQ version of the special EP 'A Million Lights (Soldiers Edition)' - that is included in the Super Deluxe version of Chezza's new album - has surfaced. I'm liking it more than the close up album cover, what do you think?

Y'all know you ain't ready for another Cheryl single yet...but she doesn't care, as she's ready to roll onto the next one :) Check out the buzz artwork for new song 'Screw You' - using part of a promo pic to great effect!

NEW PROMO PIC : cheryl - a million lights (the soldiers edition)

So since it was announced that Chezza's latest album would be released in a Super Deluxe Edition (see above), all I've been craving for is a HQ image of the bonus disc's artwork - that will be included in the set, titled 'A Million Lights (The Soldiers Edition)'. Today we're one step closer (until the alum release...), as the promo shot used as the cover image has been unveiled. Dive in below:

p.s. Did anyone watch her interview with Graham Norton? She revealed the reason behind changing her stage name to simply "Cheryl" was because the "Cole" didn't fit on her new album artwork haha! Check out the video below for her explanation...

RANDOM : so cheryl thinks will.i.am ain't so hot at designing artwork...

So over at my fave blog Popjustice there is an interview with Chezza... she talks about many topics, from Rihanna to songwriting. Towards the end of the questioning she brings up will.i.am's involvement as her manager, including giving his opinion on her artwork:

He tried to make me a cover for my record actually... I said "I think I'm going to call it this", and he went "come here!". And he got an image off the internet and mocked up a cover of the album in front of me.
Was it any good?
(Pulls unimpressed face) He started to shade bits out and it looked like I was just a head floating in space.
That's a strong look.
Hm...

Hahaha! Oh will.i.am, you're creative musically but leave the designing to the professionals... then in future maybe we won't end up with some hot mess looking-ish...

oooh, yum! chezza's new album is being released as a super deluxe edition!! it will include the deluxe edition of the album, a postcard set and (best of all) an additional CD named 'the soldier's edition' - which will be an EP of 9 new songs :D it will all be housed in a plush box as well, which is what we all love! now we just need to wait for a close up shot of that bonus EP...

so chezza has unleashed her latest album cover for 'a million lights' and everyone is slating it. seriously, every blog and post i have read this morning about it, all of them HATE it. not one to go with the crowd and ever the happy/shiny graphic designer, simonsez has decided to look at it in a positive way. for me i think it's very 80s - camp, big hair, camp pose, camp typeface, over the top glare on said typeface, a garish white border... the album is called 'a million lights' for hair-flips sake! of course she's going to go with a campy, o.t.t. visual too. everyone just needs to stop getting their virtual knickers in a twist and sit and wait to hear 'sexy den a mutha'...

so with the unveiling of the audio of chezza's latest song, the buzz cover has surfaced as well. i think we can safely state that she'll be using this as her new logo for the time being. thoughts?

NEWS: cheryl is back and unveils latest album visual!

ms. cheryl is back with her third album 'a million lights'! this friday sees the unveiling of the first single from the set 'call my name'...to celebrate the beginning of a new era, her official website has had an overhaul and now sports some tasty type (below) and new promo shots (above). even form these snippets, i have a feeling the visuals are going to be fabooluss! keep your eyes peeled on simonsez-CD for the new single cover and album artwork, as soon as it is released!
