So I've been running the blog for two years now and want to thank everyone who supports it. I see the statistics pile up as more and more people check it out, but I'd love to hear YOUR thoughts on what direction I should take it in.
Want me to revive the "My Editions" section - where I post photographs of deluxe editions I own?
Want to see more new artists' artwork being posted about?
Want me to post about the actual designers of some famous artworks and covers?
Let me know your thoughts, everything you tell me I will definitely look into doing! So write in the comments or tweet me @simonsezCD.
Here is the updated artwork for Ke$ha's 'Warrior' fan versions. The 'Fan Edition' will come with the deluxe release of the album and the 'Deconstructed' Acoustic EP.
The 'Fan Pack' will also include a bonus t-shirt, as well as album and EP.
ALSO! Ke$h has been running a special event in the run up to the album's release, which has fans looking for symbols to unlock bonus content. The second symbol was found and the album's artwork photoshoot video was revealed - head over to keshasparty.com to watch it now!
Today saw Keyshia revealing the promo images for her latest release 'Woman To Woman' - which all hold a really interesting twist... Ms. Cole appears to be giving a nod to her four previous albums' artworks, with famed photographer Derek Blanks having her pose alongside herself styled to look like each era. Check them out below!
Here she is rocking the original hood girl look that we all fell in love with - from her debut album 'The Way It Is':
The short black 'do from third album 'A Different Me'...
Key redid her heart-shaped lipstick to capture the look from underrated fourth album 'Calling All Hearts'...
And the short, blonde and curly look from sophomore (and personal favourite) release 'Just Like You' gets pride of place as the album's back cover artwork!
Loving this concept! Originally I had thought the album's title referred to a conversation between two women (especially since the title track from the release features Ashanti) - but these concept photographs make me think she is going for the idea of a woman growing into an even wiser woman. Anyone who has listened to a Keyshia Cole album knows she pours a helluva lot of emotion into it, from her debut to present day, but she is honest about the fact she is always growing and learning.
Really proud of Keyshia for stepping up her concepts, ideas and visuals this era (see: artworks and music videos), as a fan you can really see her artistic growth and it is great to witness her projects matching the quality she holds in her musical talent and ability! Bring on 'Woman To Woman'...
Lana's re-release 'Born To Die : The Paradise Edition' has also been unveiled as an EP consisting of only the new tracks (much like Gaga's 'The Fame Monster' releases). Check out the slightly altered artwork below:
With each passing artwork from Elle's 'Halcyon' era, I feel myself falling into a deeper depth of "meh"... The music is so rich and full of synths and electronic lushness, 'Figure 8' being a personal favourite, so why hasn't she tried harder to reflect that in the artwork visuals (like she has in the music videos - especially like the ethereal-realness of 'Anything Could Happen's clip). I know what she's going for with the black'n'white'n'pastel pink, but it's not enough.
Glad that the music really speaks for itself, as the covers are adding nothing to the discussion.
As posted previously here - I reported that Kesh's new album 'Warrior' would be released in a special 'Fan Pack Edition', which would include the deluxe version of the album and an exclusive EP. That EP has now been announced as 'Deconstructed', set to feature acoustic takes on her own songs and the artwork is below...
UPDATE : Check out the HQ version of the album art here!
EEEEEE! Gaga and Kendrick decided to unveil the demo of the song they worked on together (but originally was never going to be released) - including its very own artwork, featuring a photo from Gags' halloween party! Check it ouuuut:
Bundled with her greatest hits album, as an exclusive release on her official website - this serves as the follow up to the original 'Smoakstack Sessions' EP, which was given away along with the 'Stonger' album.
