UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE! silly sausage me posted a fan-made for the explicit cover of nee-nee's latest single. the actual artwork is the similar, but ever so slightly different piece below. still getting heaps of attitude from neon...not especially liking the unoriginal edge of using "graffiti type on a brick wall" they went with...but it isn't the end of the world :)

! updated ! NEW ALBUM ARTWORK : labrinth - electronic earth

i knew this wasn't the official artwork...so close to the release date i'm surprised that the real cover has only just been revealed. but it was worth the wait :) very in the vein of the 'earthquake' cover (metropolis-esque) and still incorporating that awesome logo...simonsez approves! just waiting for the new single 'last time's artwork...hoping for another good 'un.
p.s. anyone else see the 'let the sun shine' and elements of the 'earthquake' artwork lurking in his shades...

ticketmaster.com recently posted this logo on madonna's artist page as her next tour's official logo. it includes the new logo type from her 'MDNA' album artwork :D what do you think?

it's here! it's here! the debut of 'the boy is mine' part 2! both ladies are on point vocally with this song :) the artwork is still in it's "promo single cover" stage...hoping for some fyahhh when the updated official artwork arises (i'm predicting a video still cover...)

NEW ALBUM ARTWORK : madonna - MDNA

so, i had originally posted the awesome, colourful close up shot of madonna's 'MDNA' (see bottom image) as the standard edition cover of the album...it isn't! it is the DELUXE EDITION artwork and now the normal cover has surfaced. lovvvving the look, the colour and the type of both of these editions! madonna is going to werk with this era :D

her second single in as many months, this time going with a ke$ha-like club bangarrrr sound.... the artwork is slightly unoriginal (much like the song) but it's no bad thing, coming across as an homage to trashy 80s artwork. i like it :) i like amber :) i like the song :) all in all, a pretty good effort!

NEWS : emotional story behind limited edition florence + the machine vinyl

in december i wrote about a new competition for fans to design special, limited edition 7" vinyls (for songs from florence + the machine and 6 other acts), that would be auctioned off to raise money for the teenage cancer trust. this week it was announced that one of the winning artworks was designed by a girl named louise clifford, who had decided to produce a watercolour painting as a tribute to her friend, natalie roberts, who was a major fan of florence and had passed away in 2010. natalie had had a rare form of cancer for some time and it had been said that florence's music had helped her greatly during her treatment, she had even met her idol during a teenage cancer trust event at the royal albert hall. personally, i could see no better artwork to be selected for the special vinyl piece (see below). a really lovely story that perfectly embodies the spirit of art, music and the charitable nature of the cause.

NEW EP ARTWORK : kylie - best hits (superdrug fragrance exclusive)

one of the first promo pieces from the "K25" era is a new EP being given away free with kylie's fragrances at superdrug (in the UK). the EP contains 4 of kyles' best known hits and features an interesting enough cover artwork :) (though i have a feeling kylie designer regulars "adjective noun" didn't have a hand in this, i'm looking forward to what they create for the official releases from her 25th anniversary celebration).

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : pixie lott - kiss the stars

oh good lord pixie's camp are not doing their job properly! i've said before, that her releases have always seemed sloppily planned and the same can now be said for her latest single 'kiss the stars'. the (awful) music video was released a couple of weeks ago now...and the artwork for the song never surfaced...it is so poor! her visuals have been all over the place and her team don't seem to mind. if they keep carrying on down this route, i'm not holding out for there being a third album... ANYWHO! this cover has surfaced...i really don't know if it is official :/ do i care anymore?

ok, rant take 2! i think what annoys me is that pixie doesn't take charge of her releases, she is on facebook. she uses twitter. but doesn't appear to use it to reveal details of her releases to fans (or "crazy cats" as she seems to really want to call them...). for me, artists like lady gaga and madonna work so well and achieve their success through having well planned out strategies for their music. using things like the cover artwork of a single to drum up interest in songs and give fans something to dig their teeth into. pixie seems to skip from one single to another (a really solid song like 'what do you take me for'...to the unoriginal rubbish that is 'kiss the stars') and not really make an effort to actually show that she 1. knows or 2. cares about what is going on with her music's release. it baffles me.
