COMPETITION : katy perry is getting her willy wonka on!

to celebrate the release of kitty purry's 3D concert movie, she has decided to hide a golden ticket in one of the 'teenage dream : the complete confection's (unfortunately only available in the US and canada...major sadface). the ticket will allow the lucky winner to attend the premiere of her concert movie and be wined & dined. look at the video below for more deets:

beliebers everywhere, your fave wants you to get onto twitter and tweet which single cover you'd like to see him use for his next single 'boyfriend'. below are the two options and the hashtag you need to let him know which you like!

though there isn't a WHOLE lotta difference between the two covers, i appreciate the intent. 1. get the fans involved and get the buzz started early for new single and (more importantly) 2. putting importance back into artwork! making fans sit up and see it as an important part of a campaign :D...which is never a bad thing!

NEWS : emotional story behind limited edition florence + the machine vinyl

in december i wrote about a new competition for fans to design special, limited edition 7" vinyls (for songs from florence + the machine and 6 other acts), that would be auctioned off to raise money for the teenage cancer trust. this week it was announced that one of the winning artworks was designed by a girl named louise clifford, who had decided to produce a watercolour painting as a tribute to her friend, natalie roberts, who was a major fan of florence and had passed away in 2010. natalie had had a rare form of cancer for some time and it had been said that florence's music had helped her greatly during her treatment, she had even met her idol during a teenage cancer trust event at the royal albert hall. personally, i could see no better artwork to be selected for the special vinyl piece (see below). a really lovely story that perfectly embodies the spirit of art, music and the charitable nature of the cause.

so a few weeks back i posted about shontelle's cover art contest, for new buzz single 'ten to one (glasses up)'. she has chosen her top 5 entries and now fans can vote for which one will be used as it's official artwork. take a look at the five finalists and head through to her fansite, to vote for which one you think should win. personally i think they're all good efforts...but for me '002' is the strongest by far...what do you think?

COMPETITION : lets design a 7" vinyl cover for florence + the machine!

flo-flo is inviting you to design a unique sleeve for a special 7" vinyl release of her song 'only for the night', in conjunction with a scheme called secret 7" (a new charitable organisation which will auction off 45 limited edition prints of florence's vinyl and 6 other artists', with all proceeds going to the teenage cancer trust). this is a great opportunity for designers to interpret the song into their own visual and raise their profile...obviously looking at some of florence + the machine's past cover work (especially for their 'ceremonials' era at the moment) it's a lot to live up to! think you've got what it takes? head over to www.talenthouse.com to read the rules and enter your design :) GOOD LUCK!

COMPETITION : shontelle wants you to design her next single artwork!

so earlier this week saw the unveiling of shontelle's latest jam 'ten to one' (which is awesomely loverly goodness!) and i thought the artwork would soon follow...it didn't. BUT moments ago, shonny announced via twitter that she was going to run a competition to allow fans to design the cover artwork!!! as in the real, official, used for the promo rounds and itunes and stuff, cover artwork! wow! amazing! dee-lightful! sooo, if you're up for it send all submissions to:

cher lloyd has just unveiled a competition on her website for all aspiring CD artwork designers! the competition is for fans to design a new cover for her debut album 'sticks + stones', even allowing competitors to download a folder of logos and illustrations (above), to keep the designs in the theme of her previously released artwork! apart from the covers being shown on her website, it's unclear if they'll be used for any further purpose (a re-release?). do you fancy it? go to her website here and get uploading!
