So, originally 'Spectrum' had a rainbow-tinged - but someone decided at Flo HQ to turn off the Photoshop filters (and even take off the "(Say My Name)") for this updated artwork:

A new Florence single means a new limited edition white vinyl! We've seen her previous releases from the 'Ceremonials' era (check them out here) have the divine makeover - with a new image taken by Karl Lagerfeld and housed in a deluxe sleeve. Check out 'Spectrum' below:

So, Flo-Flo has a new single out - but I'm not loving the cover :/ It doesn't fit in with the gorgeous 'Ceremonials' era artwork so far...and that upsets me... It uses the photograph taken by Karl Lagerfeld for the limited release 'Shake It Out' (White Vinyl Edition) - but then it strays into some unknown territory, with some rainbow-tinged effects placed over the top and a whole new typeface being used (after all the covers had used the beautiful Bifur font). It doesn't live up to my high expectations :(

bifur typeface used for "unplugged"..yurrrm!

AND in other flo' news, the latest limited edition white vinyl single (a design collaboration between herself and fashion legend karl lagerfeld) for 'never let me go' is available for pre-order on her website. like the other editions released before, the 12" vinyl is housed in a "screen printed, foiled and hand numbered sleeve, featuring a unique series of photographic prints".

NEWS : emotional story behind limited edition florence + the machine vinyl

in december i wrote about a new competition for fans to design special, limited edition 7" vinyls (for songs from florence + the machine and 6 other acts), that would be auctioned off to raise money for the teenage cancer trust. this week it was announced that one of the winning artworks was designed by a girl named louise clifford, who had decided to produce a watercolour painting as a tribute to her friend, natalie roberts, who was a major fan of florence and had passed away in 2010. natalie had had a rare form of cancer for some time and it had been said that florence's music had helped her greatly during her treatment, she had even met her idol during a teenage cancer trust event at the royal albert hall. personally, i could see no better artwork to be selected for the special vinyl piece (see below). a really lovely story that perfectly embodies the spirit of art, music and the charitable nature of the cause.

NEW LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : florence + the machine - shake it out & no light no light (white vinyl edition)

flo flo has teamed up with karl lagerfeld (creative director of fashion giant "chanel") to create two limited edition printings of her singles 'shake it out' and 'no light no light'. the official statement reads: "each cover has been screen printed, silver foiled and hand numbered on pristine white card and features a unique series of photographic portraits personally taken by the fashion legend, which will remain exclusive to these releases.  each sleeve houses a heavyweight 180-gram 12" white vinyl contained in a black inner bag". both are limited to 500 copies each, excited?

the video for the latest single from the 'ceremonials' album was released last week, but no artwork had surfaced yet until i stumbled upon this...real or fan-made? i'll update when it's confirmed...
