NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - dark paradise (?)

There has been some online-buzz that LDR is releasing 'Born To Die's fan-favourite 'Dark Paradise' as a single...even though she's already moved into a new era of the album with the 'Born To Die : The Paradise Edition'. Ever so slightly confusing, but if she throws down an Americana/vintage clips-tastic video for it, you know we will all be slayed and just love it :) Check out the elegant (possible) single artwork below:

NEW LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : lana del rey - the singles (7" vinyls box set)

'Born To Die : The Paradise Edition' isn't the only LDR news to get excited about this festive season - it has surfaced that the French Music store 'FNAC' will release an exclusive collection of 7" vinyls packaged as 'The Singles' (check out their website here). The artwork isn't as flawless as her other covers, but she is giving me floppy hat realness...so mama still wants it!

NEW EP ARTWORK : lana del rey - paradise (EP)

Lana's re-release 'Born To Die : The Paradise Edition' has also been unveiled as an EP consisting of only the new tracks (much like Gaga's 'The Fame Monster' releases). Check out the slightly altered artwork below:

NEW LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : lana del rey - born to die : the paradise edition (deluxe boxset)

Yum, yum, yum, yummmmm! The other week I showed you the artwork for Lana's 'Born To Die' re-release (check it here) and now it has been announced that 'The Paradise Edition' will also come in a deluxe box set version (Cue fangirl squealing from simonsez...)! The set will include:

- A specially designed digipak version of the album
- An exclusive remix album
- A DVD featuring all the singles' music videos
- A 7" vinyl of 'Blue Velvet, including artwork from her H&M shoot
- 4 card prints (which from the press shots looks like the singles' artwork)

Phew! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout :) Universal have released two press shots of the set (see above and below) and it looks like the remix CD and the DVD will come in their own slipcases. As more images arise, be sure that simonsez will be posting!

NEW DELUXE EDITION ARTWORK : lana del rey - born to die : the paradise edition

Yes, yes, yes, yes! This makes up for the meh-ish 'Ride' artwork and more. Can't wait to be slayed by the inside artwork and to fully experience that gold foil realness being used on the type!!

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - blue velvet & ride

Larnsy-boo has been signed a lucrative deal with H&M for their latest ad campaign, not only as the face of their new range but also she has recorded a cover of 'Blue Velvet' - check out the simple cover below:

In other (and more interesting) Del Rey news, the first single from the 'Born To Die : Paradise Edition' re-release has been announced - 'Ride'. The artwork doesn't have that usual Lana glow about it, but she can do no-wrong in my eyes, so I'll look over any minor type placement mishaps it includes....

NEW PROMO PIC : lana del rey 'national anthem' promo

So after revealing the very original and glamorous artwork for new single 'National Anthem' - she has now released a promo pic in the same black and white style (with her eyes covered by some of the song's lyrics). I'm assuming they are stills from the upcoming video and I'm getting essence of Jacki-O (JFK's wife) in this one and Marilyn Monroe (singing 'Happy Birthday' to the president) in the official cover...are we going to be seeing a Presidential theme in the new visual?

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - national anthem

So - Lana unveiled this artwork on her twitter for new single 'National Anthem'...at first I thought it was a tumblr-esque piece and thought no more of it...then she confirmed it was the new cover. I do like it, but I think it'll tie into the song's video maybe and make me love it :)

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - blue jeans

'blue jeans' is getting a single release all of it's own and you know what that means...NEW ARTWORK! lana revealed this image on twitter saying : "Blue Jeans cover art, video coming soon"...so i'm assuming this dreamy piece of deliciousness is the logo/title free cover we'll be updating all our itunes with!

NEW DELUXE EDITION ARTWORK : lana del rey - born to die (deluxe version)

a subtle change (the title's colour now being salmon, not blue) but if i was the designer i wouldn't want to change much with this fee-lawless artwork!

SIMONSEZ'S TOP TEN COVER ARTWORKS OF 2011!

2011 is over and what a year it's been for cover artwork and limited edition releases! as a way of rounding up the year and also thanking you for your support of the simonsez-CD blog, i thought i'd make a run down of my top 10 favourite cover artworks from the year :)

SO what are you waiting for?? look below to see who made the top ten....

10. melanie c - the sea
(album artwork)

for me this artwork was a return to form to her 'northern star' hey day (i've always loved that album's artwork). simple, elegant and hella cool.

9. florence + the machine - ceremonials
(album artwork)

effortless.

8. natalia kills - kill my boyfriend
(single artwork)

only released in the latter part of the year, this artwork still managed to strike a chord with me...something about the image and that red/turquoise colouring to the collage around the type. it works and it works well.

7. lana del rey - video games/blue jeans
(single artwork)

2011 was the jumping off point of larns' career (i'm sure 2012 will see her rise even higher) and with this being her debut artwork, the only way is up :) ... something about the 50's throwback in the palette and the logo really get me going! this is the type of cover artwork which makes me want to get the vinyl edition of it to put on my wall!

6. the saturdays - all fired up
(single artwork)

was i the only one who was so happy to see the return of "a different colour for each saturday" in 2011?! ...and i still heart their logo! i'd say that this era's artwork has been a tad hit and miss, but this definitely stands strong as an awesome cover artwork!

5. lady gaga - the edge of glory
(single artwork)

so, i had a difficult time picking an artwork from gargs' discography from 2011...i remember the feelings i felt when the 'born this way' single cover was revealed (my heart leapt and there was definite shaking n' crying...) and i love 'you and i's use of joe calderone. but there was something extra about the then-buzz single 'edge of glory's artwork, when it was released in the countdown to the album's release. to me, there was no fault to be found with it. flawless-gaga-fierce-ness.

4. dev - in the dark
(single artwork)

i still wish this had been the album cover. grace jones' artwork has always been an inspiration to me and i love the reference to it in dev's sky scraping wig and the choppy image of this cover.

3. natalia kills - perfectionist
(album artwork)

delicious to the extreme! the film noir-inspired visuals of kills have given my 2011 life. you can't falter a black/white 'n' red combo and the cross over her eyes has always kept me happy :) perfection indeed.

2. nicola roberts - cinderella's eyes
(album artwork)

NICOLA ROBERTS A.K.A. THE PATRON SAINT OF COVER ARTWORK! who knew in january that in the year ahead the red head from girls aloud would emerge as a bonafide solo star with such an eye for cover artwork! i want to take a moment to specially mention the 'beat of my drum' cover... DELECTABLE! and the 'lucky day' artwork...AMAZING! and also the 'yo-yo' artwork... INSPIRED! snaps to nix for a solid visual theme throughout all of her covers, for keeping it real and for being errryone's new fave girls alouder! :D:D

AND HERE IT IS... simonsez'S TOP COVER ARTWORK FROM 2011...

1. mýa - k.i.s.s. (keep it simple & sexy)
(album artwork)

miss mýa may have not been at the top of the charts for some time, but that has not stopped the girl's grind to keep releasing music. as she is not funded by a major record label it has sometimes led to piss-poor cover artworks (check out 'someone come get this bitch'...disgraceful). but from nowhere, this beauty of an album cover appeared! i have loved it all year and felt that my-my should come out of 2011 with at least one number 1 hit :)

p.s. love the shout out to janet's 'control' artwork (another fave) with the hand drawn markings running through it :D

and there we go. another end to another year. hope you all keep safe and well in 2012 and keep checking back to see the latest single, album and limited edition pop/r&b artwork :D:D

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - off to the races

this week's UK itunes free download...not larns' best song, but still a solid performance. the cover artwork yells out "buzz single" cover, but that logo is purdy, so i won't complain :D

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : lana del rey - born to die

larrns released the album's cover last week and now the single (of the same name) is also getting a release, including this artwork below :) it is a still from the buzz video she released with the audio not long ago...not sure if that was a prelude into what the official video will look like... anyone else wondering what kind of visual she's going to come up with now she has some record company money backing her (compared to the "home video/choppy editing" buzz videos she's released so far)?

(source : coverlandia.net)

p.s. i don't know why they got rid of this logo so soon (after using it on the 'video games'/'blue jeans' artwork)...i'm still in love with it's herb lubalin-ness <3

NEW ALBUM ARTWORK : lana del rey - born to die

lovvvvve this! her visuals have always been stellar, videos, cover artwork and her style in general :) kinda wish they'd kept her logo from the 'video games' cover artwork, but loving this impact style type as well...also have they over photoshopped her chin, or is it just an awkward angle? larnny is still a stunner though and you can not deny the music!

p.s. her latest single will also be titled 'born to die'...hope there isn't confusion of which cover is which when that one is revealed as well...

DISCOVERED : lana del rey - video games / blue jeans

touting herself as the "gangsta nancy sinatra", lana del rey has been lighting up blogs for some time with her debut single 'video games', which is being released as a double a-side with another song 'blue jeans'. love the look of the artwork too, european, effortless, lovely! she is definetly one to watch!

also found this alternate cover for 'video games'...bee-ayy-utiful!
