Another image that surfaced on the web makes it look like the album will be a sticker on the cover (the melted, gold shape and the label with the album title written on it) - the rest of the CD case being left clear. I look forward to seeing it :)

NEW ALBUM ARTWORK : g.o.o.d. music - cruel summer
Kanye West and his "G.O.O.D. Music" troupe (including 2chainz and Mr. Hudson) are releasing a compilation of songs under the title 'Cruel Summer'. Check out the intricate/3D artwork below - yummay! Said to be released physically as a three panel digipak, this is definitely one to get excited for!
p.s. Doesn't it fit in beautifully with The Throne artwork?

RANDOM : so 2chainz has some pretty delicious artwork...
Kanye West's "G.O.O.D. Music" signee 2chainz is everywhere, if you don't know who he is - I bet you'll have heard him lay a few bars on your fave's latest smash (or at least the remix version...). I had kind of put him into the category of 'yes, a talented rapper, but I'm not going to go out of my way to listen to him/buy his music' etc. etc. But , I had to rethink that when I saw his album artwork. Check it out below (titled 'Based On A T.R.U. Story'):
Now, I hope you can see why I find this piece enjoyable: it feels considered (inverting the parental advisory sticker so it fits with the palette), well executed (the photography is invitingly clear where you don't want to look away) and - most importantly - it is simple (which in the rap genre is rare, with artwork often very garish and o.t.t.). Look at it alongside the 'Deluxe Edition' cover of the album as well and the cover feels like even more of a solid piece:
BOOM - Yes and yes! This artwork actually makes me want to know more about the artist, giving the impression that with a well orchestrated visual comes a bit more of a considered approach to the music as well. This artwork is no accident, it is a creation from Yeezy's DONDA design company (a collection of creatives, who Kanye employs to help him create graphic design, visuals and "galvanise amazing thinking" - read more about it here). For me, I completely see the considered approach given to this visual and I applaud it. Also check out single artwork for 2chainz's latest 'Birthday Song (Ft. Kanye)':

! updated ! NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : kanye west - way too cold (originally theraflu) (ft. dj khaled)
due to the cough medicine brand not being too happy with mr. west's name dropping of their product ("we in no way endorse or approve of the references or use of the image or likeness of theraflu in this manner"), he has decided to rename the song 'way too cold' and alter the artwork also... kind of just looks like a haribo milk bottle now though...

UPDATE : due to some legal issues, yeezy has changed the title to 'way too cold' and has altered the artwork accordingly...check it hurrr!
oooooooh, yes yeezy! it looks like he has enlisted 'my beautiful dark twisted fantasy' artist george condo to give this buzz single some life...and it is giving me liiiife!
also, as a prelude single into the G.O.O.D. music compilation release, yeezy is releasing 'mercy'. check out the more subdued, but still classy, cover below:

NEW ALBUM PACKAGING ARTWORK : the throne (kanye west & jay-z) - watch the throne
august 12th sees the release of the physical editions of kanye and jay's 'watch the throne' album. the deluxe edition artwork (designed by riccardo tisci of givenchy) has just been released and will include an 18 panel poster, displaying the albums lyrics, and also the disc will be printed onto a limited edition black disc :) have a gands!

hmmmm...questions, questions....is this the first glimpse of a visual direction the whole album will follow suit with (in videos, future artwork etc.), is the 3D effect going to be followed with 3D visuals, etc etc...what do you think?
