LIMITED EDITION: girls aloud - ten (limited edition boxset)

 

Continuing the girl group theme (see my last post on All Saints' 90s-licious deluxe edition), we're now moving to Girls Aloud and their greatest hits collection 'Ten'. Celebrating a decade in the spotlight, this was a celebration of their biggest songs and the impact on pop they has achieved. Keep reading to see my cover-to-cover look into this Whole Lott History...

 

Quite a subtle start to the edition, for a band usually known for the Xenomania off the wall pop moments (a la 'Biology') and iconic, eye popping artwork (a la 'What Will The Neighbours Say?') this seemed a surprise to me - where's the colour? Where's the girls? It's sleek...but doesn't feel very Aloud to me...

 

OK! Here we go, shocking pink lining - now we're talking. Sleek black outside, bright pink inside: the embodiment of a grown up girl group? Love the cover art to the album, which we'll inspect more later.

NEW LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : girls aloud - the collection (studio/b-sides/live)

The GA gals have just begun their 'Ten' reunion arena tour and to help celebrate their back catalogue they have decided to release a cohesive guide to their whole lotta history (REFERENCE!). Set to include seven discs of:

• The Five studio albums - 'Sound of the Underground', 'What Will The Neighbours Say?', 'Chemistry', 'Tangled Up' and 'Out Of Control'.
• The complete Xenomania B-sides (did anyone else actually write for them?) and more (another way of saying 'Something Kind of Oooh' and 'Something New' will be included...)
• 'Tangled Up : Live From the O2' audio disc (previously unreleased)

All of this deluxe-limited-edition-ness will be "housed in a beautiful slipcase hardback book filled with photos, memorabilia and exclusive new sleeve notes". As Nadine would say...NOICE! Check out the promo image of the piece below.

NEW SINGLE ARTWORK : kimberley walsh - one day i'll fly away

The Girls Aloud alum is really hitting the right notes with her solo artwork (all from debut album 'Centre Stage'), now releasing the cover for first single 'One Day I'll Fly Away'. I love that her and Nicola have come into their own with their solo efforts, visually and musically, it really highlights how other members got a little lost with theirs...

NEW ALBUM ARTWORK : kimberley walsh - centre stage

As Girls Aloud's 10th anniversary reunion heats up, Kimberley has decided to use this opportunity (and her exposure on UK's Strictly Come Dancing) to release her collection of show tunes, musical theatres numbers and a couple of original songs - titled 'Centre Stage'.

NEW SINGLE & LOGO ARTWORK : girls aloud - something new

After unleashing the flawlesssssss artwork for their tenth anniversary compilation 'Ten', the girls just keep it coming with the divine cover for single 'Something New'. Those colours, the poses, the styling! Yum.

NEW ALBUM & LIMITED EDITION ARTWORK : girls aloud - ten (standard & limited edition boxset)

AHHHH! The girls are back after a hiatus to bring us a celebration of their tenth year anniversary - in the form of new compilation album 'Ten'. The release will see all their previous singles put together alongside four new songs (including new single 'Something New') and will come in a standard version, a 2CD deluxe version (the second disc's tracks will be voted for by fans) annnnnd a "bespoke limited edition boxset" version. Check below for the flawless artwork...

The standard and deluxe will feature the same artwork, while the limited edition boxset will feature a whole host of other goodies! Set to include:

- Bespoke collector's box (you can already smell the quality!)

- The 2CD deluxe version of the album, but housed in a special gatefold wallet

- DVD of the never-before-released 'Passions of Girls Aloud' TV series on 2DVDs (I think in the promo image, they've used the artwork from the 'Tangled Up (Fan Edition)' - I will confirm that...)

- 6 exclusive art prints

NEW EVENT SINGLE ARTWORK : alfie boe & kimberley walsh - one vision (ft. youth music voices choir)

so this post is in support of kimberley, my fave girls alouder!! (...obv before nicola got her sass on for her solo ish...). this song will act as the official "team GB" song, a cover of queen's classic hit. i like...artwork is blah - red, blue and white....we get it.... i am actually really looking forward to the olympics haha! i'm majorly patriotic!!
